Joy and Gratitude

Happy New Year.

Facing the year ahead with joy and gratitude for my relationship with Jim, one day at a time.

And really, that's it. One day at a time, I express gratitude to him for washing the dishes. He pointed out he's much better at it than I am. Humbling, but so true. And here's the true beauty of this moment: he's using the tools my mother bought me which I've subconsciously refused to use. Suddenly sponges she bought me, the steel wool and the scrubber were out of their dust collecting hiding places and Jim was muscling away at the pots making them gleam. And he made me throw away the raggedy rag I was using: right tool for the right job--I'm open to learning from others. Open to letting love in and stop resigning myself to live my life on my own fumes. I'm open to letting those who love me teach me more effective ways to live.

My boyfriend and my mother. I'm grateful.

So here's to 2012: a year of openness to joy and gratitude. One day at a time. I learn to appreciate the people in my life who make it possible for me to live a life more rich.

Love well.
